Richard Avedon is a photographer that has made works of art with his iconic style of taking portraits. He photographed all types of people. Andy Warhol to series called American West. Always with a plain white background. It is photographers like him that inspire me to the power of simplicity of revealing people through pictures.
There are some days that I wonder if what I do makes a difference. Should I be documenting the plight of homeless teenagers? Underprivileged single mothers?
Other days I catch a moment in a families life that no one else could. This is translated into so many different emotions for so many different people in this families lives. I will probably never know.
I am so glad I have the privilege of going into the intimate space of a families life, and creating a time in their history. I am grateful.
